Book Expo America (which the cool kids simply call BEA) is over. The AtlanticThe New York Times and The New York Post are just three publications covering the mood there, which was hopeful! Go, publishing! Also, agents and editors are sitting down at their desks for the first time in a week. If you haven't received a response, blame BEA.

Here's a fun Publishers' Weekly story about which states have the highest per capita count of bookstores. I was not at all surprised to see Vermont at slot #3. (Because we rock out up here in northern New England.) New York is in 49th place? That's so wrong.

Random House has made another excellent infographic which helps describe the book buying public's habits. Source data is from Bowker Market Research.
